Mohawk Fine Papers has purchased one hundred million kWh of renewable energy certificates (RECs), offsetting one hundred percent of the annual electric power consumption across all its operations in New York and Ohio. A member of the EPA Green Power Partnership, Mohawk now manufactures its entire range of premium printing, writing and imaging papers, including Strathmore, Beckett, Mohawk Superfine, Mohawk Options and Navajo, Via, BriteHue and Mohawk Color Copy with wind energy.
In May, Mohawk announced that it is now making its premium papers lines-Strathmore Writing, Strathmore Script, Beckett Expression, and Beckett Concept-carbon neutral. This means that Mohawk offsets both the electricity and the thermal energy used to make the paper. Thermal manufacturing emissions are offset with Verified Emissions Reductions (VERs), in addition to the windpower offsetting of the electricity.
These paper lines are used for stationery, business cards, corporate identity, and other business communications and feature third party certifications from Green-e, FSC, and Green Seal.
